Hi, I’m Toluwalase.
A Nigerian technology professional based in Cornwall. You may also know me as Steven through my NHS work.
I studied Information Systems at the American University of Nigeria, then completed an MSc in Health Data Science at the University of Birmingham. I now work at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, supporting preparation for an electronic patient record implementation.
A lot of my work involves connecting the details: checking that records agree, understanding how a workflow is meant to work, finding what’s missing and explaining what needs to happen next.
Outside work, I build and experiment. Sometimes that means making a card game feel right on a phone. Sometimes it’s turning an archive of writing into a useful website, or finding out why a local AI model has suddenly got slower.
I like understanding how things work, but I also want something usable at the end of it.
How I work
- Check before claiming. If something hasn’t been tested end to end, I say so. “Not validated yet” is a perfectly good status.
- Write it down for the next person. An SOP, a tracker or a short note means the next person doesn’t have to start from scratch.
- Use AI tools, and stay responsible. I build a lot with AI coding tools. I decide what gets built, review what comes back and check that it works.
